Yanling Daoren (鄢陵道人, Yānlíng Dàoren) is the first of Baoshan Sanren's students who left the mountain for the mortal world. He is the eldest martial brother of Cangse Sanren and Xiao Xingchen, Wei Wuxian's maternal martial uncle, and the martial uncle-in-law of Lan Wangji.

History[]
Yanling Daoren is the first disciple of Baoshan Sanren who leaves the mountain for the mortal world. When he first leaves the mountain, due to his mastery over his skills, everyone praises and admires him, and he becomes a famous cultivator of the righteous path.[1]
Sometime later, his personality changes drastically. He becomes a villain capable of killing people without blinking twice. Xiao Xingchen recounts that in the end Yanling Daoren had died under "thousands of swords." What prompted this drastic change in personality remains a mystery.[1]

- Like his shimei and teacher, Yanling Daoren seems to have used a pseudonym after leaving his sect. His last name, Yanling (鄢陵), is the same name for Yanling County in Xuchang City, Henan Province. Yan (鄢) is a surname which combines the radicals zhèng (正) meaning 'correct / upright / just' with niao (鸟), meaning 'bird', and yi (邑), meaning 'city'. Daoren (道人) is an honorific that means 'Taoist Devotee.'
