Wangxian: Forgetting Envy - Part Two is the one-hundred and twelfth chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.
Synopsis []
Three months later in Guangling, a group of villagers lead cultivators up a mountain. Apparently, Ghosts have been haunting their village for the last few months.
Suddenly, a dead body falls from a tree. Wei Wuxian plays a song on Chenqing to summon more ghosts, and the cultivators flee. The villagers race away shortly after, and though they plead for Lan Wangji's assistance, more corpses arrive to chase them away.
Lan Wangji finds Wei Wuxian, who proceeds to seduce him. However, just as Lan Wangji ties his forehead ribbon around Wei Wuxian's wrists, a little girl cries out.
The girl, named Mianmian, flees to her parents. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian reveal themselves to assure the couple that they are human, and Wei Wuxian realizes that the girl's mother is none other than the Mianmian he used to know. Her true name is Luo Qingyang.
Luo Qingyang introduces her husband, a former merchant who left his position to night-hunt with her. Luo Qingyang then explains that they are here to investigate the villagers' claim of trouble with graveyard ghosts.
Wei Wuxian explains that although the villagers claimed people had died, no one had. In fact, the ghosts had only troubled the villagers because the villagers had robbed their graves. So long as no cultivators forcefully subdue the ghosts, the ghosts will retreat in peace. Now that he has shown his presence, no other cultivators will dare to come.
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji give Little Mianmian money as a gift, but the girl insists on only thanking Lan Wangji. After parting, Luo Qingyang tells her daughter that the man she was rude to once saved her life. Little Mianmian insists that he did bad things.
Luo Qingyang's husband notes that Lan Wangji is quite the famed figure, and Luo Qingyang explains to her husband that Lan Wangji is unlike most cultivators: he always appears wherever the chaos is. Her husband then asks if her life was ever in danger, and Luo Qingyang begins to tell her story.
Wei Wuxian, meanwhile, teases Lan Wangji about his hidden feelings for him back then. In response, Lan Wangji requests that "Wei Yuandao" return his forehead ribbon, citing the very wordplay Wei Wuxian used on Mianmian years ago.
Wei Wuxian then pulls out Lan Wangji's money pouch. He recognizes it as the perfume satchel Mianmian gave him in the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter, and teases him for stealing it.
As Wei Wuxian continues to tease him for their affair, Lan Wangji reminds him that they have already married; it is not an affair. When Wei Wuxian continues further, Lan Wangji silences him with a kiss.[1]
