The Prideful - Part Three is the eighth chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.
Synopsis []
Jiang Cheng strokes Zidian as he considers fighting Lan Wangji, but as he is not completely certain that his sword Sandu is stronger than Bichen, he ultimately decides against a fight. He settles for chastening Jin Ling, telling him to find the soul-stealing entity or to never call him 'uncle' again.
After Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling depart, Lan Wangji instructs Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi to do only what they can, without forcing anything. Before leaving, he nods in acknowledgement towards Wei Wuxian, thanking him for his assistance in Mo Village.
Distressed, Wei Wuxian heads down the mountain with Little Apple. He slaps himself for his words to Jin Ling, and as he stops to wash his face, listens to gossip about his nephew. Cultivators lament that Jin Ling has been spoiled due to his parents' untimely demise, and they also discuss Wei Wuxian's tense relationship with Lan Wangji.
Wei Wuxian follows Little Apple into a grassy area, where he finds a Qiankun bag filled with several items, including a Yin-Burning Talisman that informs him of a spirit's nearby presence.
The spirit is the ghost of an old man with an injury to his head. At the sight, Wei Wuxian suddenly realizes that something is very wrong about their hunt for the soul-stealing entity.
He makes his way to the ancient tombs on Dafan Mountain to inquire where the young masters from the Gusu Lan Clan and Lanling Jin Clan have gone. Although the rural clan is also there, their leader pretends not to know him. Still, the Round-Faced Girl points him in the direction of the Heavenly Maiden's temple.[1]

Author's Note[]
Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's end-of-chapter note reads:[2]
I’m telling you guys, don’t doubt Mo Xuanyu’s looks just because there’s no description of his appearance. Please remember that the author has a visual complex, so she’ll never think of writing a main character who’s ugly. That’s how it is!
As for names, if you see a character being called differently, that’s their birth and courtesy name. For example, Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian. Lan Zhan, courtesy name Wangji. Yup ~ o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o That’s it for now.
