The Intractable - Part Two is the fourth chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Synopsis []

Wei Wuxian is dragged to the East Hall, where Madam Mo weeps over the vastly altered body of her son. Wei Wuxian notes that Mo Ziyuan's corpse appears to have aged at least twenty years, evidence of a demonic presence.

Lan Sizhui stops Madam Mo's attempt to kill Wei Wuxian, but she is adamant that "Mo Xuanyu" killed her son, and that the evidence is on his body. Wei Wuxian examines the body to discover that it is missing its left arm, eerily echoing his earlier warnings to Mo Ziyuan. However, he also finds a Spirit-Attraction Flag on Mo Ziyuan's body, indicating that the foolish young man had not only ventured outside to beat up his cousin at night but had also stolen another cultivation tool, unaware that the Spirit-Attraction Flag would turn him into a target for any evil presence.

Wei Wuxian notes that one of his cuts has already healed, confirming Mo Ziyuan as one of those Mo Xuanyu wished dead.

Distraught, Madam Mo continues blaming Mo Xuanyu before shoving her husband and commanding him to leave. Although her husband was typically obedient, he responds by uncharacteristically shoving her. A-Ding stays to assist Madam Mo and with a few pointed looks, convinces A-Tong to accompany Master Mo.

A scream from outside sends everyone running. Madam Mo faints upon seeing her husband dead on the ground, and, though alive, A-Tong seems unable to speak. Wei Wuxian notes that a second cut has now healed.

For demonic creature to kill two people within hours, it must be extremely vicious. Lan Jingyi says that he has sent a signal for help, but that help will likely not arrive for at least an hour. Wei Wuxian considers leaving to avoid more cultivators, but, concerned for the juniors, decides to stay and "finish it quickly."[1]
