Talismans (符篆, Fúzhuàn) are spiritual weapons consisting of runes written on paper.
Description[]
Talismans are used by most clans and cultivators, and can serve a variety of different purposes.
Disciples have to have a certain level of cultivation to write the runes on the spot, and as a result, most junior disciples are still unable to use blank talismans.[1]
Chain Talisman[]
While at the Burial Mounds, Wei Wuxian uses twelve yellow talismans to act as chains to restrain Wen Ning's unconscious Fierce Corpse.[2]
Explosive Talisman[]
Wei Wuxian uses an explosive talisman against Jiang Cheng during their confrontation in the Yunmeng Jiang Clan's ancestral hall.[3]
Forbiddance Talisman[]
Jin Guangyao uses extremely strong Forbiddance Talismans to seal the head of Nie Mingjue inside his secret treasure chamber.[4]
Ghost-Destroying Talisman[]
Xue Yang uses a Ghost-Destroying Talisman to shatter A-Qing's soul during his fight against Lan Wangji in Yi City.[5]
Green Flame Talisman[]
Wei Wuxian uses these talismans to diminish the glare of Jin Zixun's sword during the ambush at Qiongqi Path.[6]
Illumination Talisman[]
The fire from a Illumination Talisman (明火符, Míng Huǒ Fú, lit. Bright Fire Talisman) is not easily extinguished by sinister winds. Lan Sizhui uses a Illumination Talisman to relight the candles extinguished in the halls of Mo Manor.[7]
Sealing Talisman[]
After his revival as a conscious Fierce Corpse, Wen Ning wears a Sealing Talisman around his neck. He removes it during the fight at Qiongqi Path to achieve his full potential as a Fierce Corpse.[6]

One of Wei Wuxian's first inventions in Demonic Cultivation, the Spirit-Attraction Talismans reverse the order of the Spirit-Repelling Talismans. They are drawn with human blood and seem to resemble an eerie, smiling face.[8]
Spirit-Repelling Talisman[]
Spirit-Repelling Talismans are used to repel evil spirits, and are typically memorized by disciples around the age of fifteen or sixteen.[8]
Wei Wuxian uses the Qishan Wen Clan's reliance on these talismans to replace their protection with the Spirit-Attraction Talismans, hastening the demise of Wang Lingjiao.[8]

Warning Array Talisman[]
While buying food in Yiling, Wei Wuxian uses a Warning Array Talisman to communicate with the remnants of the Qishan Wen Clan back at the Burial Mounds. If the array is broken or blood is shed, Wei Wuxian's talisman ignites to warn him.[9]
Yin-Burning Talisman[]
Yin-Burning Talismans (燃阴符, Rán Yīn Fú) burn up in the presence of resentful energy, using that energy as fuel.[10] Wei Wuxian finds several on Dafan Mountain, and also uses another amidst the fog in Yi City, whereupon he and Lan Wangji discover the junior disciples in the vicinity.[11]
Web Series Divergence[]
In the web series, Wei Wuxian is rumored to have invented the Bright Fire Talisman, a talisman that will not be extinguished by evil winds. However, as his imitators explain the talismans in an attempt to peddle his inventions for money, it is unknown if he truly invented such a talisman.[12]
