"Right and Wrong" is the twenty-first episode of the animated series.

Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen arrive in the Impure Realm to learn that Nie Huaisang is not there. They ponder if there is a connection between the Demonic Left Arm and Wen Ning's reappearance.
In Qinghe, Wen Ning's consciousness returns. Wei Wuxian asks what happened to his friend, but Wen Ning cannot recall much except the presence of Jin Guangshan and two other people, one of whom wore the robes of the Gusu Lan Clan. However, as they speak, Wei Wuxian collapses from the effects of the Curse Mark.
Wei Wuxian recalls his time protecting the remnants of the Qishan Wen Clan on the Burial Mounds. One day, he takes the lone child among the remnants, Wen Yuan, along with him to shop for food in Yiling. When Wen Yuan wanders away, Wei Wuxian discovers him sobbing as he clings to Lan Wangji, who is night-hunting nearby. While they have a meal together, Lan Wangji again warns Wei Wuxian of the consequences from Demonic Cultivation. Wei Wuxian insists that he will be fine, but a Warning Array Talisman signals trouble back at the Burial Mounds.
Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and Wen Yuan arrive to find that Wen Ning's Fierce Corpse has escaped its talismans. They duet together to suppress Wen Ning, who successfully regains his consciousness. Before departing, Lan Wangji again asks if Wei Wuxian can control his Demonic Cultivation, and Wei Wuxian insists that he can. The remants of the Qishan Wen Clan then hold a celebration to thank Wei Wuxian for restoring Wen Ning to them.
About one year later, Jin Zixun ambushes Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning on Qiongqi Path while they are on their way to Jin Ling's one-month celebration. Jin Zixun believes that Wei Wuxian is the person who cursed him with the Thousand Sores and Hundred Holes Curse, and insists that he removes it. Although Wei Wuxian denies it, the situation escalates to a fight. Archers aim for Wei Wuxian and, in return, he uses Chenqing to command Wen Ning to attack. When Jin Zixuan arrives to intercede, Wei Wuxian accidentally causes Wen Ning to drive his fist through Jin Zixuan's heart. Jin Zixuan falls to the ground while Wei Wuxian watches in helpless horror.
In the post-credits, Wei Wuxian recalls that Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli visited shortly before her wedding so that he could see her wedding attire. At the visit, she asked him to pick her future son's courtesy name, and he chose "Rulan."[1]

Divergence from the Novel[]
The Curse Mark never extends beyond Wei Wuxian's legs in the novel;[2] although it takes a while to fade, it does not cause him much distress.[3]
Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao never visit the Impure Realm out of concern for Nie Huaisang.
Jin Zixun's role in the ambush on Qiongqi Path is significantly different in the novel. Rather than the coward who hides and flees, as he does in the animation, the novel's Jin Zixun brashly fights Wei Wuxian while Wen Ning battles the other cultivators. In addition, the animation does not show his death at the hands of Wen Ning in the aftermath of his cousin's demise.[4]
