"Mountain Collapse" is the eleventh episode of the animated series.
Synopsis[]
Wang Lingjiao screams for help, and Wen Zhuliu bursts in to save her. As he battles Yu Ziyuan, Wang Lingjiao sends off Signal Fireworks to summon the Qishan Wen Clan to Lotus Pier.
Although the shield formation of Lotus Pier holds at first, Wen Zhuliu melts the cores of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan disciples, destroying their shield formation.
ALthough Yu Ziyuan leads Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng into battle, she quickly realizes the gravity of the situation. She then takes the two boys and uses Zidian to restrain them in a boat that will take them to safety. She and Jiang Cheng share a tearful goodbye before she gives Zidian to her son. As the boat drifts away while the boys struggle against Zidian, she tells the boys to find Jiang Yanli in Meishan before requesting that Wei Wuxian protect Jiang Cheng with his life.
Suddenly, Wei Wuxian notices Jiang Fengmian flying on his sword towards Lotus Pier, providing hope that the situation will improve.
But when they manage to return to Lotus Pier, they find their home in ruins. The Qishan Wen disciples declare that over fifteen-hundred disciples are dead, while Wen Chao comforts a weepign Wang Lingjiao. Desperately, they search for Madame Yu, only to see Wang Lingjiao attempt to strike her kneeling corpse. Wen Zhuliu prevents her, however, stating that Purple Spider would prefer death to humiliation.
They then notice Jiang Fengmian's corpse and hear that Wen Zhuliu melted his Golden Core before he was run through by a nobody. Enraged, Jiang Cheng attempts to attack, but Wen Ning throws himself into the pier to distract the Wen cultivators while Wei Wuxian drags the distraught Jiang Cheng away.
After escaping to a nearby forest, Jiang Cheng strangles Wei Wuxian, blaming his actions to save Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan in the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter for their demise. He stops, however, to wail over and over that he wants his parents.[1]

Divergence from the Novel[]
The sequence in which Jinzhu and Yinzhu slaughter the retinue of cultivators accompanying Wang Lingjiao is cut.[2]
In the novel, Wen Zhuliu attempts to reason with Yu Ziyuan before the massacre commences; he makes no such attempt in the animation. Additionally, there is no shield formation present in the novel.[3]
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng hear that Wen Zhuliu melted both Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan's cores, but they do not witness their bodies among the carnage, nor is the exact nature of Jiang Fengmian's death discussed.[4]
