The Measuring Snake (量人蛇, Liángrén Shé) is a beast from the Nanman area.
Description[]
The measuring snake is described as having a thick body and armored scales that make it difficult to shoot through. Whenever it encounters potential prey, it straightens itself out to compare who is taller. If the snake is taller, it devours its victim. [1]
History[]
After discovering the corpse of the measuring snake, Jin Zixuan describes the creature to Jiang Yanli in an attempt to impress her during the night-hunt on Mount Baifeng. He then adds that the one on Mount Baifeng is likely a mutant, as its fangs are longer than its jaw.[1]
Animation Divergence[]
In the animation, a living measuring snake attacks Jiang Yanli on Mount Baifeng, though it has mutated to an enormous size. It is killed by Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.[2]
A non-mutated measuring snake later appears near the deaths of several cultivators close to the watchtowers. Jin Ling expresses familiarity with this type of snake and attempts to fight it, but Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji intervene to kill it once more.[2]
