Ill Winds - Part Two is the sixty-second chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Synopsis []

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng are stunned to see that the tormenter of the Wens is none other than Wei Wuxian. They note that while he had always had a smiling disposition in the past, he now wears a cold, dark energy and an eerie smile.

Wen Chao screams for Wen Zhuliu, while Wei Wuxian mocks him as a picky eater. The cape covering Wen Chao's legs slides off, revealing that he was compelled to devour the flesh of his own legs to the bone.

As Wei Wuxian feeds a Ghost child Wen Chao's missing fingers, he asks Wen Zhuliu if he still thinks he can save Wen Chao. Wen Zhuliu replies that he will die trying, and adds that he cannot fail to repay the debt he owes the Wens' generosity.

Wei Wuxian retorts:

“What a joke! Why is it that the debt you owe has to be repaid at the expense of others?!”

A female ghoul appears to tear off Wen Chao's bandages, and the ghost child attacks Wen Zhuliu when he attempts to intervene. The ghoul woman turns towards Wen Zhuliu as well, and he throws himself towards Wei Wuxian.

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng leap inside. Jiang Cheng wraps Zidian around Wen Zhuliu's throat and hoists him into the air. He struggles in agony, but does not die.

Jiang Cheng tosses Suibian to his brother and demands to know where he has been. Wei Wuxian acknowledges that he was thrown into a "hell of a place to suffer," but does not provide more details. After emerging, he decided to take care of the Wens before reuniting with Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng says that it is all right, so long as Wei Wuxian is back.

Lan Wangji, however, interrupts to ask if Wei Wuxian really killed all of the Wens.

Wei Wuxian says that he wished to torture Wen Chao, and torment Wen Zhuliu by rendering him helpless to fulfill Wen Ruohan's command to protect his son.

Lan Wangji asks what means he uses to control the ghosts, but Wei Wuxian refuses to answer. Lan Wangji then attacks him, and Wei Wuxian defends himself with his flute before Jiang Cheng steps between them.

Lan Wangji sidesteps Jiang Cheng and requests that Wei Wuxian return to Gusu with him.

Wei Wuxian interprets this as an attempt to arrest him for Demonic Cultivation, and refuses. Jiang Cheng reminds Lan Wangji that Wei Wuxian saved him in the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter, scolding him for wanting to arrest Wei Wuxian now.

Lan Wangji protests that he does not want to denounce Wei Wuxian, but fears that Wei Wuxian will not be able to control its effects on his heart. Wei Wuxian retorts that he will not lose control, and scoffs at the idea that others would care about his heart.

Lan Wangji is angered, but Jiang Cheng adds that discipline of Wei Wuxian falls under the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, as he is part of their clan, not the Gusu Lan Clan.

Both Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian refocus their attention on the helpless, drooling Wen Chao, who no longer even attempts to scream.

Wei Wuxian kicks him to kneel in the direction of Yunmeng. When he cries out, Jiang Cheng asks why his voice is so sharp, and Wei Wuxian explains that Wang Lingjiao bit off a certain body part when she went mad.

Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian tell Lan Wangji to leave before they begin torturing Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu to death.

Although Lan Wangji departs the tower, he never leaves the courier station.[1]
