The forty-seventh episode of the Web Series premiered on August 19, 2019.
Synopsis[]
In Yunping City, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji discover that the land deed was to a Guanyin Temple. Investigating the temple, they discover a Suppressing Array, and decide to return at night to examine it further.
However, as they leave, they overhear a monk claim that the temple will be closed for three days starting tomorrow. Wei Wuxian asks if the temple only serves Guanyin, and the monk confirms it. He also notes that the monk is not ordained.
At night, Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, and Wen Ning return to find a Camouflaging Barrier to mask the activity inside. Wen Ning stays behind in case of trouble, and he rushes off once he notices something in the distance.
Meanwhile, Jin Ling is led to the temple by Fairy.
Inside the temple, Lan Xichen is treated with respect by monks and cultivators of the Lanling Jin Clan, though his spiritual powers have been sealed. When Jin Ling arrives, however, Wei Wuxian fears that he will be shot with arrows, so he and Lan Wangji leap down, using Talismans and Bichen, respectively.
Jin Guangyao arrives and uses a guqin string to take Wei Wuxian hostage.
Jin Ling is horrified when Jin Guangyao orders his men to find Fairy and kill her, lest the dog alert anyone else. Lan Xichen reminds Jin Guangyao that Jin Ling is his nephew, and Jin Guangyao warns Jin Ling that he may hurt him if he does not obey. He then orders the monks and disciples digging inside to work faster.
Lan Wangji attempts to attack, but Jin Guangyao holds the guqin string steady to his throat. To save Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji seals his own spiritual powers and surrenders, and Jin Guangyao marvels at their relationship.
Noting that it is beginning to rain, Jin Guangyao suggests that they shelter inside the temple. Wei Wuxian is released from the guqin string.
Su She enters with an unconscious Nie Huaisang, and Jin Guangyao asks his accomplice not to treat him harshly. He assures Lan Xichen that they will all be released without harm, but Lan Xichen asks if he should believe him.
Jin Guangyao says he can believe as he likes before returning to the back. Su She, meanwhile, taunts Lan Wangji, accusing him of arrogance. Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen defend Lan Wangji.
Just as Su She pulls Nanping on Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng arrives and throws the doors open with Zidian. Su She is thrown back and attacked by Fairy on Jin Ling's orders.
The dog flees, and Su She follows after. Jiang Cheng easily dispatches the disiples inside, but Jin Guangyao attempts to use a guqin to battle Jiang Cheng. In response, Jiang Cheng clashes two swords to overpower the sound of the guqin.
Jin Guangyao admits defeat with the guqin, and turns to a more dangerous weapon: his words. He asks why he is avoiding even looking at Wei Wuxian.
Lan Xichen warns Jiang Cheng not to speak with Jin Guangyao, but Jin Guangyao continues to taunt Wei Wuxian that Jiang Cheng does not care for him.
Jin Guangyao then asks why Jiang Cheng asked others to daw Suibian the night before, and Wei Wuxian realizes with horror that Jiang Cheng knows the truth.
Jin Guangyao slowly implies that he knows about the Golden Core transfer, and Jiang Cheng loses his composure. As they fight, Jin Guangyao feigns a sword attack on Wei Wuxian, and when Jiang Cheng attempts to block it, Hensheng stabs Jiang Cheng instead.
Su She returns, saying that Fairy managed to escape again. The monks and disciples call that they have found it, and Jin Guangyao rushes to the back of the temple.
Meanwhile, the captured Jiang Cheng glares at Wei Wuxian.[1]

Divergence from the Novel[]
In the novel, Wei Wuxian does not overhear a monk claim that the temple will be closed for three days, nor does he note that the monk is not ordained.[2]
The Web Series cuts Lan Wangji's drunken antics in Yunping, and the resulting sexual encounter between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.[3]
As a result of the encounter, the ashamed Wei Wuxian approachsd the Guanyin Temple with only Wen Ning in the novel. Once Wei Wuxian notices a silencing ward around the temple, he sends Wen Ning to find Lan Wangji, rather than wait outside in case of trouble, as in the Web Series.[4]
In the Web Series, it is clear that Jin Ling is the one climbing the wall, yet the monks and archers seem ready to shoot anyways. In the novel, the archers at the temple recognize their young master and hesitate. Only a monk shoots, as he either did not recognize or did not care who Jin Ling was.[5]
In the Web Series, Jin Guangyao does not release Wei Wuxian until they shelter inside the temple. In the novel, however, Lan Xichen first explains the origins of Lan Wangji's scars to Wei Wuxian in the temple courtyard.[4] When Lan Wangji arrives, Wei Wuxian cannot contain himself. Jin Guangyao drops the guqin string once Wei Wuxian confesses his feelings to Lan Wangji, allowing Wei Wuxian to fling himself over to Lan Wangji.[6]
Rather than upset Su She after dismissing his fear of death, in the novel, Wei Wuxian concludes that Su She was actually correct that fear of death is the same as not wanting to die. This prompts a rare laugh from Lan Wangji.[6]
The Web Series omits that Wei Wuxian covered Lan Wangji's ears due to the painful noise Jiang Cheng made clashing the two swords together.[7]
