The forty-fifth episode of the Web Series premiered on August 14, 2019.
Synopsis[]
Su She accuses Wei Wuxian of slandering himself and Jin Guangyao, and Wei Wuxian challenges him to play the melody again. The crowd agrees, but Su She refuses.
Wei Wuxian then pulls out two scraps of paper that he claims are from Collection of Spirit Turmoil, saying he found them inside Golden Carp Tower's treasure vault. He offers them for Lan Qiren to check, but Su She shouts for him to watch out.
Lan Wangji hurls Bichen at him, and Su She defends with Nanping, revealing that he alone has not lost his powers among the adults. Su She uses a Transportation Talisman to escape, but not before destroying the repaired array.
Wei Wuxian explains that Su She must have been the masked man in Yi City who stole the Yin Tiger Tally from Xue Yang.
Outside the cave, Wen Ning fights off another wave of Puppets, but cries out that he cannot hold them. Lan Sizhui rushes to help, and Jin Ling follows.
Jiang Cheng stops his nephew to gives him Zidian, as his own powers are useless. Jin Ling refuses to take it, and he rushes to the entrance. Seeing the swarm, Nie Huaisang cries that they are done for.
Wei Wuxian cuts himself and draws a Spirit-Attraction Flag on himself. He says that he will be the bait when the Puppets run in, and Lan Wangji will defend him while the others escape. They leap outside, and Wei Wuxian plays his bamboo flute while the rest flee.
Eventually, an exhausted Wei Wuxian, leaning on Lan Wangji, returns down the Burial Mounds, to Lan Sizhui's relief. Wen Ning notes that Lan Sizhui's name is Lan Yuan.
The cultivators make their way to boats to set out for the nearby Lotus Pier, where they can safely rest to recover their powers. With a dark look, Jiang Cheng listens to Clan Leader Yao begin to gossip about Jin Guangyao in a manner reminiscent of the gossip against Wei Wuxian.
At the dock, Wen Ning approaches Lan Sizhui and says that he looks quite a bit like a cousin of his. He asks if he can call him A-Yuan. Lan Sizhui agrees, to Wen Ning's excitement.
However, Jin Ling pulls Suihua on Wen Ning, and when Lan Sizhui leaps in the way, Jin Ling shoves him. Ouyang Zizhen scolds him, and Jin Ling shouts that he is just a terrible person.
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian to look out of their boat, hearing his shouts. When Wei Wuxian insists that his nephew put down his sword, Jin Ling breaks down into heavy sobs. As Suihua is his father's sword, and all he has left of Jin Zixuan, he refuses to put it down.
Jiang Cheng commands Jin Ling to come to him, and Jin Ling and Jin Chan run to Jiang Cheng.
When Jiang Cheng expresses displeasure with the words Ouyang Zizhen speaks, Clan Leader Ouyang commands his son to come to his boat, but Ouyang Zizhen declines, choosing to stay with Lan Sizhui, Lan Jingyi, Wen Ning, Wei Wuxian, and Lan Wangji.
Wen Ning decides not to enter Lotus Pier, but Wei Wuxian does with Lan Wangji by his side. Lan Sizhui, however, stays outside to keep Wen Ning company.
The others gather in the main hall when Jiang Cheng is informed of two guests outside. He returns with two women, Sisi and Bicao.
The veiled woman, Sisi, freely confesses before the scornful crowd that she used to be a prostitute. She was turned out of her brothel after the wife of one of her customers hired men to mutilate her face with a knife.
However, as she had no other skills, she joined with a group of older and disfigured prostitutes. One day, all of them were hired, paid extravagantly, and taken to a mansion. Although most were excited, Sisi suspected something was strange.
When they went inside, Xue Yang tripped Sisi before threatening her with a knife. A man behind a curtain instructed the women to perform sexual intercourse on Jin Guangshan, who was tied to the bed. The man said "Father, I've brought you your favorite women."
Jin Guangyao commanded the women not to stop even when Jin Guangshan died. After they finished, all of the prostitutes were killed except for Sisi, though she has no idea why she was spared. Instead, she was confined to a residence for eleven years, and has never seen the man who rescued her. He simply told her that he would stop Jin Guangyao from fooling people any longer. For the sake of her deceased "sisters," she is here today.
Wei Wuxian is the sole member of the crowd to ask for proof, though Sisi admits that she has none. The crowd, however, readily believes her.
Just then, Lan Qiren approaches Bicao, recognizing her face. Bicao explains that she was the maid of Madam Qin, and saw Lan Qiren during the Laoling Qin Clan's Dicussion Conference.
Bicao says her story is twelve to thirteen years old. As Qin Su's wedding date approached, Madam Qin began to suffer emotional breakdowns. Bicao assumed her mistress was merely having difficulty letting Qin Su go. She even fainted upon receiving the invitation. After the marriage, Madam Qin's depression worsened, and before her death, she told the truth to Bicao: Jin Guangyao and Qin Su were actually brother and sister.
Jin Guangshan had raped Madam Qin, resulting in Qin Su's conception. And even though Madam Qin told Jin Guangyao the truth before the marriage, Jin Guangyao married Qin Su anyways.
The crowd erupts, and Clan Leader Yao condemns Jin Guangshan for assaulting the wife of his subordinate Qin Cangye.[1]

Divergence from the Novel[]
In the novel, the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds features two additional waves of Fierce Corpses. All of the juniors fight off the second wave of corpses, and the adults join them with without their spiritual powers. However, all the cultivators are spent by the time the third wave arrives.[2]
Although Wei Wuxian does paint a Spirit-Attraction Flag on himself as an initial plan, in the novel, the juniors refuse to leave, knowing his plan is highly risky. Just then, the corpses of the murdered Qishan Wen Clan remnants arise from the Blood Pool and defeat the corpses controlled by the Yin Tiger Tally. Before they dissolve into ash, they recognize Lan Sizhui's true identity.[3]
The Web Series cuts Wei Wuxian's final confrontations with Yi Weichun and Fang Mengchen.[3]
Wen Ning's befriending of Lan Sizhui occurs at the docks in the Web Series, but in the novel, it occurs in the boats as they sail.[4]
The Web Series shows Wei Wuxian collapse in the aftermath of the Siege, but in the novel, he collapses in the aftermath of Jin Ling's breakdown.[5]
Jin Ling and the juniors are not present in the main hall of Lotus Pier; only the clan leaders and cultivators of importance were there to listen to Bicao and Sisi's stories.[6]
Xue Yang did not threaten Sisi or any of the prostitutes when they entered the mansion. Jin Guangyao had already given them commands while hiring them; although he mocked his father, he did not command the women until after Jin Guangshan had died.[6]
