"Beautiful Tranquility" is the fifteenth episode of the animated series.
Synopsis[]
As the mysterious cultivator continues to play his flute, the Fierce Corpses begin to attack. However, the corpses only attack those from the Qishan Wen Clan, leaving the Yunmeng Jiang and Gusu Lan cultivators unharmed.
In a panic, Wen Chao attempts to flee, only to be attacked by the Fierce Corpse of Wang Lingjiao.
The mysterious cultivator then descends from above, immobilizing Wen Zhuliu and destroys his Golden Core. He reveals himself as Wei Wuxian, before demanding to know why Wen Zhuliu is still deteremined to protect Wen Chao. When Wen Zhuliu replies that he still owes the Qishan Wen Clan a debt, Wei Wuxian furiously demands why his debt has to be repaid at the expense of others.
As Jiang Cheng watches with a grin, Wei Wuxian uses Demonic Cultivation to torment and kill Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu.
In the aftermath, Lan Wangji confronts Wei Wuxian, warning him of the negative effects of Demonic Cultivation before asking Wei Wuxian to return to Gusu with him. Wei Wuxian interprets this as an attempted arrest, and Jiang Cheng intervenes to insist that the Gusu Lan Clan has no business disciplining a member of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan.
Lan Wangji departs in evident emotional turmoil. With the power of Demonic Cultivation, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng drive the Wens back to the Qinling Mountains and free all of Jingchu from the Qishan Wen Clan. After returning to Lotus Pier, they discuss their next plans against the Qishan Wen Clan. Wei Wuxian suggests using the cursed sword he found in the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter. Jiang Yanli enters with food, but she seems concerned upon hearing her brothers' determination to kill Wen Ruohan.
The flashback finally ends. Wei Wuxian awakens resurrected in Mo Xuanyu's body, still in the Cloud Recesses. He is approached by Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi, who tell him about the Venerated Triad and question why someone like Wei Wuxian fell into villainy.
Meanwhile, Lan Wangji informs Lan Xichen about the Demonic Left Arm from Mo Village, before Lan Xichen departs to discuss the upcoming Discussion Conference with Jin Guangyao. Soon after, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji meet face-to-face in a moment of serenity.[1]

Divergence from the Novel[]
The gruesome manner of Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu's death is lessened in the animation. In the novel, Wen Chao is driven mad with Demonic Cultivation, to the extent of being compelled to eat his own fingers and legs. Once he and Wen Zhuliu are cornered in a shelter, Lan Wangji attempts to intervene before the two are killed, out of concern for Wei Wuxian. After he is rebuffed, he departs, and Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng torture Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu to death in revenge for Lotus Pier.[2]
Back in the present day, Lan Xichen has already departed by Wei Wuxian's first day in the Cloud Recesses, and he had gone to Golden Carp Tower to plan the upcoming Discussion Conference, not the expansion of the hunting grounds on Mount Baifeng.[3]
Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi's attempts to awaken Wei Wuxian, and his sexual innuendos regarding Lan Wangji, are cut from the animation.[4]
