Day and Night - Part Four is the ninety-third chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.
Synopsis []
Wei Wuxian commands Lan Wangji to open his mouth, but Lan Wangji just bites down harder. When Wei Wuxian manages to pull himself free, Lan Wangji promptly uses Bichen to stab the corner of Wei Wuxian's garment and his sitting mat, pinning them to the floor.
Wei Wuxian chastises him for putting a hole in the floor, and Lan Wangji immediately throws Bichen away. After Wei Wuxian sheathes it properly, he scolds Lan Wangji for tearing his clothes and asks if he knows how to mend clothing.
Lan Wangji shakes his head, and Wei Wuxian tells him to learn. He then covers the hole in the floor with his sitting mat.
Lan Wangji shoves his money pouch into Wei Wuxian's arms, insisting he keep it. Wei Wuxian declares himself rich, and Lan Wangji snatches it back with evident disappointment and sorrow.
Wei Wuxian tells Lan Wangji to look at him, and indeed, they spend quite a while staring at each other's faces. Wei Wuxian pulls back, saying they should play another game, and at the word "play," Lan Wangji enthusiastically drags him out of the inn.
To Wei Wuxian's surprise, Lan Wangji's "game" is stealing two chickens from a chicken coop.
Carrying the chickens, Lan Wangji leads him to a second yard, where he proceeds to steal jujubes from a tree. Wei Wuxian has a sudden epiphany: when he showed Lan Wangji around Lotus Pier, he recounted many stories of his youth in Yunmeng. Some of his exploits included stealing chickens and jujubes. Evidently, Lan Wangji, who was brought up very strictly, envied Wei Wuxian's younger adventures.
Lan Wangji proudly shows his jujubes to Wei Wuxian, who praises him accordingly.[1]
