Day and Night - Part Three is the ninety-second chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Synopsis []

Wei Wuxian silently reflects that he cares less about their investigation and more if being a cut-sleeve is contagious through the sacrifice of one's body.

Lan Wangji notices his fatigue and tells him to rest. Wei Wuxian tells him that he should do the same, but then recalls Jiang Cheng's words and that there is only one bed.

Lan Wangji tells him to rest first, but unfortunately, Wei Wuxian finds himself unable to sleep without Lan Wangji by his side. Although he finally succumbs to exhaustion, Lan Wangji declines to wake him until dinner, and thus does not rest himself.

The Innkeeper enters with their dinner and alcohol. They tell her that they are visitors from Gusu, and she replies that it is no wonder, as they both have the good looks characteristic of the Jiangnan region.

Wei Wuxian says that he cannot compare to Lan Wangji, and the innkeeper replies that they are both good-looking, but in different ways: Lan Wangji is handsome, while Wei Wuxian is cute.

Wei Wuxian asks her what she knows about the Guanyin Temple, and the innkeeper explains that it was already built when she arrived in Yunping City eight years ago. Everyone in the city relies on it for protection.

Wei Wuxian inquires why they do not seek out cultivators, and the innkeeper promptly informs him that the frightening and unreasonable Yunmeng Jiang Clan is the cultivation clan in Yunmeng. She explains that the clan refuses to help the common people with spirits unless the spirits kill. The innkeeper fumes that if the spirits kill, it is already too late to ask for help.

She then recounts the story of an acquaintance who went to Lotus Pier due to a bad haunting in his house. The man entered to see Jiang Cheng using a glowing whip on an unfortunate man whose flesh and blood splattered everywhere. A servant informed the acquaintance that Jiang Cheng was angry because he had caught the wrong person again, and the acquaintance promptly fled.

Wei Wuxian realizes that the man was likely one of the practitioners of Demonic Cultivation that Jiang Cheng hunted over the years.

The innkeeper continues with another story, of a man unfortunately surnamed Wen who was likewise scared away by Jiang Cheng.

When the innkeeper leaves, Wei Wuxian pours liquor for himself and Lan Wangji. He promises himself that he will only ask the drunk Lan Wangji a few things, and do nothing else. Still, when Wei Wuxian takes a sip, he realizes that it is very strong liquor.

Lan Wangji quickly falls asleep, and Wei Wuxian teases him that he is finally in his hands. He examines Lan Wangji's face closely when suddenly, Lan Wangji awakens to bite Wei Wuxian's finger.[1]
