Core of the Truehearted - Part Two is the eightieth chapter of Mo Dao Zu Shi.
Synopsis []
Lan Wangji tells Wei Wuxian to continue speaking, while Su She looks to Lan Qiren to lift the Silence Spell. Unfortunately, too many conflicts between the Gusu Lan Clan and the Moling Su Clan have occurred, so Lan Qiren declines to lift the spell.
Wei Wuxian's suspicions land on Su She, noting that he has been unusually talkative today. He asks about the relationship between the two clans, and Lan Wangji explains that the Moling Su Clan branched off from the Gusu Lan Clan.
Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi further inform Wei Wuxian that the Moling Su Clan's techniques are extremely similar to the Gusu Lan Clan's, yet Su She is often angered if anyone mentions his apparent imitation of Lan Wangji.
At Lan Jingyi's loud voice, Su She becomes infuriated enough to break the Silence Spell by force. The two clans begin to squabble, and when a Gusu Lan Clan disciple accuses the Moling Su Clan of playing their exorcism melodies wrong, Wei Wuxian realizes the truth.
He announces that the one thing all of the adults did together was kill the Fierce Corpses. Ouyang Zizhen wonders if Corpse Toxin could be the culprit, but his father dismisses the idea.
Wei Wuxian attempts to ask Lan Qiren a question, but Lan Qiren tells him to ask Lan Wangji, as he is still unwilling to speak with him despite the situation.
Wei Wuxian turns to Lan Wangji to ascertain that Eradication Tone is most powerful on the seven-stringed guqin, which is why both Su She and Lan Wangji use such a difficult instrument. He then asks if Su She failed to master the guqin, and thus teaches his own Moling Su disciples with mistakes. Lan Wangji affirms this.
Wei Wuxian then declares that Su She must have led his disciples to play a Power-Suppressing Melody that only the Gusu Lan Clan would recognize as an incorrect song. However, due to the enmity between the clans, the Lan disciples believed it to be a mistake rather than anything suspicious.
Nie Huaisang wonders if such a song could exist, and Wei Wuxian explains Collection of Spirit Turmoil. Although Su She insists that he never entered the Room of Forbidden Books, Wei Wuxian points out that Jin Guangyao could enter for him. He reason s that Jin Guangyao used the Yin Tiger Tally to summon the corpses, while Su She played a melody to remove their powers.
As Su She maintains that these accusations are slander, Wei Wuxian challenges Su She to play the melody again. He then takes out two sheets of sheet music, claiming he obtained them from the secret treasure vault in Golden Carp Tower. He moves to hand them to Lan Qiren for analysis.
Su She shouts for Lan Qiren to watch out and grabs for the music sheets. Just then, Lan Wangji sends Bichen towards him. On instinct, Su She blocks the blow with his sword Nanping – which is still full of spiritual energy.[1]
