Use[]
As a youth, Wei Wuxian first conceives the idea for the compass during the investigation of the Waterborne Abyss.[2]
After inventing the compass, Wei Wuxian intends to improve its performance, but never has a chance to perfect it before he dies at the siege of the Burial Mounds. As a result, the Compass of Ill Winds can only point out the approximate direction of malicious creatures. Furthermore, it can only detect low-level soul-consuming beasts and spirits.[1] For instance, as the Heavenly Maiden on Dafan Mountain is a god, the Compass of Ill Winds is unable to detect its presence.[3]
