Clan Leader Ouyang (欧阳宗主, Ōuyáng-zōngzhǔ) is the leader of the Baling Ouyang Clan and the father of Ouyang Zizhen.

Personality[]
Clan Leader Ouyang seems protective of his son, as he tries to stop him from fighting during the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds[2] and attempts to discipline Ouyang Zizhen for his support of Wei Wuxian for fear of inciting a grudge with Jiang Cheng.[1]
He also displays a brave side, rallying the other adults into fighting the Fierce Corpses despite their lack of spiritual power.[2]
History[]
Clan Leader Ouyang evidently takes part in the both First and Second Sieges of the Burial Mounds, as he knows the corpses of the Qishan Wen Clan remnants have been thrown into the Blood Pool.[3]
For the Second Siege, he is among the cultivators who band together to rescue their junior disciples and fight a second siege of the Burial Mounds against Wei Wuxian. However, when the cultivators arrive at the Burial Mounds, they find that their children had already been rescued by Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, and Wen Ning. When Ouyang Zizhen attempts to persuade his father of Wei Wuxian's innocence, Clan Leader Ouyang dismisses his claims as the careless words of a child.[4]
After the loss of his spiritual power due to Su She's treachery, Clan Leader Ouyang acquiesces to his son's pleas to take shelter in the Demon-Slaughtering Cave.[5]
Clan Leader Ouyang is terrified when his son nearly falls victim to a Fierce Corpse while trying to protect his father from the corpses.[2] As the cultivators travel by boat to Lotus Pier to rest while they recover their spiritual power, Ouyang Zizhen defends Wei Wuxian to Clan Leader Yao. Jiang Cheng then comments to Clan Leader Ouyang that his son has a "silver tongue." Afraid of Jiang Cheng, Clan Leader Ouyang demands his son leave the juniors' boat and join his boat. Ouyang Zizhen refuses, calmly telling his father to focus on recovering his spiritual energy.[1]
Animation Divergence[]
Season 1 of the Animation includes a character named "Ouyang" who appears alongside Nie Huaisang at the Cloud Recesses. When Nie Huaisang declares his wish to study at the Yunmeng Jiang Clan the next year, Ouyang replies that Nie Mingjue will break his legs.[6] Later, during the Qishan Wen Clan's archery competition, Lan Wangji saves Ouyang from an arrow shot by Wen Chao.[6]
Given his age and name, it is possible, but unconfirmed, that this character becomes Clan Leader Ouyang.
Ouyang Xin (欧阳信, Ōuyáng Xìn) is the first member of the minor clans to speak up against the Qishan Wen Clan's actions during the meeting that leads to the alliance of the Sunshot Campaign. His face is not visible as he speaks, so it is unclear if this is the same Ouyang disciple described above. He explains that the Qishan Wen Clan killed members of clan and destroyed of his ancestral hall before he was rescued by Lan Wangji.[6]
Web Series Divergence[]
In the Web Series, Clan Leader Ouyang is one of the most vocal in his condemnation of Wei Wuxian and shows interest in the Yin Tiger Tally at the Bloodbath of Nightless City.[7]
