Caiyi Town (彩衣镇, Cǎiyī Zhèn) is a waterfront town in the Gusu region, located approximately 10 kilometers (20 里 lǐ) from the Cloud Recesses.[1] It is connected by a waterway to Biling Lake.
Appearance[]
Wei Wuxian describes the town as either densely covered by a net of rivers, or dwellings packed on either side of the web-like water paths. The houses have white walls and grey roofs, and the rivers are filled with boats carring baskets and people. On the banks, many goods are sold, including flowers, fruits, bamboo crafts, pastries, tea, and silk.[1] Additionally, there is a Hunan cuisine restaurant in the town, whose spicy food Wei Wuxian adores.[2]
Waterborne Abyss[]
The Gusu Lan Clan is asked to help the town purge a recent plague of water ghosts. After catching over a dozen ghosts despite none of the townspeople recalling any recent drownings, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji lead several disciples to investigate, including Su She and visiting guest disciples Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng.[1]
Upon reaching Biling Lake, the ghouls are revealed to have appeared from a Waterborne Abyss. Lan Xichen surmises that they have been driven downstream into the lake by the Qishan Wen Clan after their cultivators fails to purge the abyss.[3]
Thirteen years after Wei Wuxian's death, the Waterborne Abyss has long since been purged, and the town once again thrives.[4]
