When Lan Wangji catches Wei Wuxian trying to steal his jade token in order to escape the Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian throws himself on top of Lan Wangji in a last-ditch attempt to disgust Lan Wangji into kicking him out. In response, Lan Wangji uses the Body-Locking Spell to keep Wei Wuxian's body in place for the rest of the night.[1]
After the first time Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji drink together in Yueyang, Lan Wangji suddenly drags both himself and Wei Wuxian to bed at nine in the evening – the time for the Gusu Lan Clan disciples to rest. Lan Wangji stops Wei Wuxian's escape by using the Body-Locking Spell once again.[2]
While it is not confirmed if it is the same technique, Jin Guangyao uses a similar move on Qin Su by pressing certain meridians to render certain parts of her body immobile.[3]
Audio Drama Divergence[]
While the technique is never given a name in the novel, the audio drama has Wei Wuxian refer to it as the Body-Locking Spell a few times.[4][5]
A month after the events at Mo Village, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji decide to take refuge in an inn for the night. After Wei Wuxian tries to annoy Lan Wangji multiple times by insisting they sleep on the same bed, Lan Wangji forces Wei Wuxian to stop by casting both the Silence Spell and the Body-Locking Spell.[5]
