An Array (咒阵, Zhòu zhèn) is a magical formation drawn on the ground for the casting of spells.[1]

Many types appear throughout the Novel and its adaptations.
Evocation Array[]
The use of Evocation summons a spirit into the middle of an array.[2]
Maze Array[]
An array that seems to disorient those who approach it. Nie Huaisang uses a Maze Array protect the Stone Castles.[3]
Night-Attack Array[]
While camping in Tanzhou, Lan Wangji also sets up an array to guard against any night attacks from evil creatures.[4]
Protective Array[]
An array to protect a residence from malevolent creatures. To use the Yin Tiger Tally against the Yueyang Chang Clan, Xue Yang first destroys their protective array.[5]
Repelling Array[]
An array that repels evil, such as Fierce Corpses. Lan Qiren repairs such an array in the Demon-Quelling Cave during the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds.[6]
Resurrection Array[]
Xue Yang uses an array during his attempts to resurrect Xiao Xingchen as a conscious Fierce Corpse.[7]
Seal-Breaking Array[]
At the Guanyin Temple, Wei Wuxian draws multiple arrays of fresh blood on the Guanyin statue to break the seal of Jin Guangyao's Suppression Array.[8]
Sacrificial Ritual[]
Part of the Sacrificial Ritual involves a crooked array drawn in the caster's own blood.[1]
Suppression Array[]
Jin Guangyao uses a complex suppression array to conceal the ghosts from the burned brothel inside the Guanyin Temple. [9]
Other suppression arrays used include Wei Wuxian's seal on Nie Mingjue's coffin[10] and Jin Guangyao's seal on the box storing Nie Mingjue's head.[11]
Warning Array[]
Wei Wuxian sets up a Warning Array on the Burial Mounds while he ventures to Yiling. If the array is broken or blood is shed, a Talisman ignites to alert him to the trouble.[12]
