What is it? Not the 'path', not the 'abilities', or any other definition that uses 'cultivation' in the definition. That doesn't help me.
What is being cultivated? Why is it being cultivated? How is it being cultivated?
I'm new to this cultivation business. Please help me understand it. Thank you.

Someone should really go through the font and background colors of character info boxes in daylight mode. You really can't read them at all.
Hey I’ve been looking through the wiki section of this anime and to be honest it seems like it would be a fun show to watch. I’ve been looking for it to watch but haven’t had any luck so far. I’m in Ontario Canada and dose
Anyoe know which streaming service would have it. Im hoping it won’t be to much of a streamin provider. Thanks for any advice..

So i'm like looking for this fic that i read awhile back, i think it was on fanfiction.net or ao3, maybe tumblr? But basically, it's an mdzs mini crossover with tgcf. In the fic, hua cheng and xie lian are like walking at a festival (I think it was in Cayi?) and then this little kid runs into them. The kid is Lan Yuan (lan sizhui.) Lan Wangji walks over and apologizes for it, and he recognizes the two men. Xie Lian is like, how'd you know who we were? Lan Wangji says there are temples dedicated to the two of them, bc their gods. and then I think the three adults have a conversation or smt, but lan wangji was like 'my loved one is dead. but unfortunately, he can't come back.' Anyway, afterward, Lan Wangji leaves, and Xie Lian is like "oh, i feel so bad for him. I hope he finds his loved one soon." or smt like that. If anyone can find it, that would be amazing. thank you so much in advance. (It's a oneshot btw)

Thoughts on Xue Yang and XueXiao or SongXiao???
Here’s what I think: The term psychopath is used for someone who is unstable and violent. Xue Yang is a psychopath. He doesn’t care about killing or hurting other people; he is violent. The part about him being unstable is probably debatable. Just to make it clear, I’m not using the term psychopath as an insult (or a compliment.) Being a psychopath doesn’t mean that you don’t have emotions or that you’re an idiot. Xue Yang is a genius, and he definitely has feelings and emotions–he just doesn’t understand all of them or know how to deal with them properly. Xue Yang is literally one of my favorite characters, and lots of people like him because of his tragic backstory or awesome character (as in, he’s a great “villain”) and lots of people don’t because he’s a horrible person (regarding his apathy and “evil” personality.)
The way Xue Yang treated Xiao Xingchen was actually horrible–BUT— does that stop me from scrolling through every XueXiao fanfiction on the Internet? No. Of course not. Xue Yang x Xiao Xingchen is so interesting to read because everyone has a different take on it. I literally love this ship so much. 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
Realistically speaking, Xue Xiao would never work out. (In the words of Wei Wuxian) Xiao Xingchen hates Xue Yang. Personally, I think Xue Yang had something for Xiao Xingchen. The way he reacted when Wei Ying (stole or took back) Xiao Xingchen’s soul was kinda heartwrenching. That fighting scene was just 👌❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥. Okay but I didn’t love Wei Wuxian in that scene. I mean he was right, in saying Xue Yang didn’t deserve Xiao Xingchen’s soul, and saying he should have executed himself (if you wanted revenge for XXC the one you should have killed was yourself, not Chang Ping-Wei Wuxian, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, animation.) But at the same time, I wish that we could have seen a bit more of the aftermath of Xue Yang’s death. It just felt kinda empty that they defeated him, a villian who I think is pretty well written, but then his body disappears and its just like “oh yay we defeated him.” Idk.
Also the scene where Xiao Xingchen found out, and (idk if its just me but…) Xue Yang actually sounded kinda regretful when he said “I shouldn’t have promised to get the groceries today.” (Btw I’m talking about the animation here) I do also think that Xue Yang was trying to explain his situation to Xiao Xingchen, and expecting him to sympathize. That moment was Xue Yang letting his walls down. The look on Xue Yang’s face when Xiao Xingchen called him disgusting (totally understandable but 😭)–he was hurt and obviously the best way to react when someone hurts you is to set their ex-best friend/potential-love-interest-who-you-tricked-them-into-killing on that person and push them to the point of suicide. Duh. 💀
😅okay. If you read all the way to here, thank you soo much for bearing with me. I had more to say I think but then I got to the skull emoji and like my mind just blanked and my writing spree just ended. Anway tell me what you guys think in the comments!
P/S- any Xue Xiao fic recs is appreciated! I’m not super into Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang (aka all three of them) but I’ll take pretty much anything else.
P/S/S? P/P/S?- Should I do another post about Xue Yang and Wei Wuxian, bc the parallels between them are kinda fire❤️🔥
Now, I haven't read the manga or seen much of the Donghua. From what I HAVE seen, however, was that Lan Qiren comes off as strict, closed-minded, and a questionable guardian.
Yes, he took over guardianship of Lan Huan and Lan Zhan, but it's clear that how he raised them had some detrimental effects on them.
One of my main gripes against him was the rules "No showing excessive emotion" and "No grieving excessively"; those two rules could warrant grounds for emotional abuse. It's also concerning, since no other clan has rules like this.
When Wangji started expressing himself more after falling for Wei Wuxian, Qiren's first thought was to separate them! Why?! It was obvious that A-Xian was proving to be good for Wangji; since the former allowed Lan Zhan to be more willing to make his own choices and express emotions more. Not to mention, if he actually succeeded, it would only cause his younger nephew to be angry and resentful towards him.
And when Wei Ying died, Lan Qiren decided to punish Wangji with 33 whips from the discipline whip. If Wangji wasn't so stubborn and a fighter, then it's more than likely the poor guy would've succumbed to his wounds. So if that happened, than Qiren would've been guilty of murder-by-proxy: he might not have wielded the whip, but he did order the punishment.
Speaking of Wei Ying, it was understandable to be annoyed with him after disrupting the lessons, but it wasn't okay to see the teen as just his mother. Wei Wuxian is not his father or his mother, he is his own person.
I read the novel two times, watched the TV drama, and currently in the middle of rewatching the animation for the second time, and all this time I've been trying to find any tiny bit of information what would explain/justify the behaviour of Yu Ziyuan (especially since they made her appear as strong and pretty in the animation, making my try to give her a chance)
And I just can't.
The main problem of this woman, is that her marriage with Sect leader Jiang is an arranged one, and apparently she tried to make it work at some point, but had to realize that her husband loves an other woman much more (Wei Ying's mom). At first this is understandable, especially that the good ol' sect leader actually liked Wei Ying more than Jiang Cheng (considered him more of a son than his actual son), so I can understand why she is pissed.
BUT! This does not give her the reason to went all it onto a kid. None of this justifies the horrible way she treated Wei Ying.
Like what? My husband loves an other woman, so I'm gonna blame it on this recently orphaned kid?
It wasn't Wei Wuxian's troublemaking behavior, or that he was better at cultivating than Jiang Cheng. I'm 200% sure that even if Wei Ying would be a meek, quiet kid, Yu Ziyuan would still treat him the same way.
And nothing gives her the right to do so.

New reader of the novels here… So is Wei Wuxian in Mo Xuanyu’s body for the duration of the novels set in the “present time”? How old is Mo Xuanyu compared to Lan Zhan? Does Mo Xuanyu look like Wei Wuxian?

Since everyone responded well enough to Part 1, I'll do part three
Wei Wuxian - Before everyone starts hating on me; hear me out first. I don't dislike him as a character, I'm just calling out some of his less-than-favorable personality traits. We know that Wei Wuxian is an honorable warrior in his own right. However, what I do dislike about him is how blind he was to the harm he was causing. I understand that he was intent on protecting the remnants of the Dafan Wen, however, A-Xian was also abandoning his younger brother since for years Wei Ying promised Jiang Cheng that they'd be the Twin Prides of Yunmeng. Not to mention him lying to Jiang Cheng about his golden core was more detrimental than telling the truth.
Jiang Yanli - I'm not saying that she's a bad person, but it really seems like she cares more about Wei Wuxian than the other people who needed her. At the time of her death, her husband had recently killed and she still had a child to take care of. Instead of focusing on her son, Jiang Yanli went into an active battlefield and died to protect her brother. A noble sacrifice, yes, but at the cost of leaving her and Zixuan's son a full orphan.
Clan Leader Yao - To be honest, he's a thorn in just about everyone's side. Always following what everyone says is true instead of trying to figure out the truth. Long story short, a snivilling weasel who's only out for himself.
Wang Lingjiao - I really didn't see the point of her trying so hard to make Wen Chao love her. Since Wen Chao is basically Jin G*******n 2.0., it's only a matter of time before he dumps her for someone else like he did to his wife...
(Again, I'm not trying to dis Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian because I don't like them; I only did this because people like them so much that they ignore the negative traits)
